As part of the webinars organized by the Compost Council of Canada, Françoise Forcier of SOLINOV and Geneviève Dussault of RECYC-QUÉBEC presented the results of the extensive study on organic waste from IC&I sectors in Quebec. The study analyzed the management of organics from IC&I sectors in three jurisdictions outside Quebec, from both a regulatory and cost perspective. Ms. Forcier then presented profiles of the organic waste generated by IC&I sectors, by region of Quebec, as well as the minimum threshold required to collect them. Finally, the cost analysis for providing these services will inform the development of a regulation by the MELCCFP (Ministry of the Environment) regarding the recovery of organics from IC&I sectors.
